M&S Sale – Leather Mini Skirt – Day 3 of 4
Leather Mini Skirt – Taking advantage of the Sales to plan my AW14 Wardrobe
Leather Mini Skirt in Navy soft leather now reduced to £31.99
Never say Never! Who would have thought it? This 48 year old mother of 2 teenage daughters in a mini skirt! Why was I drawn to this skirt?
1. I was using the sales to plan ahead for occasions that I needed something special or just that bit different for my AW14 wardrobe. I wanted statement items of clothes and at a bargain.
2. Leather will be a strong trend for the Autumn and Winter so I have been combing the Retailer Websites looking for a leather skirt.
3. I have long been a loyal customer of M&S for years and when I saw this skirt and it was in Navy Blue (and reduced from £99 to £31.99) I thought that I would at least order it and see what it looked like on. It is DIFFERENT. I think because it is made from a soft leather and is in Navy this takes the harder edge away from what ones impression may be of a mini skirt in leather.
I think I found my DIFFERENT at a bargain price of £31.99 for a quality leather skirt that is on trend going into the Autumn and Winter of 2014.
I am seen here wearing the skirt with standard navy tights and heels. I bought my silk blouse from M&S about 2 years ago. I think the blouse smartens the overall look. I want this skirt to go to an event in a very trendy wine bar at the end of September. I plan to wear the skirt with navy opaque tights and to buy myself a new pair of Navy patent high heel courts. The blouse I think will be fine to complete the look but I am now on the prowl in the new season collections for a 3/4 sleeve fine knit v neck sweater. There is no waistband on this skirt and given that I am always trying to find ways to deflect attention away from my middle area; I think the fine knit sweater with the hem sitting out over the waistband of the skirt will be more flattering on me.
One thing to note about all leather garments (whether you are talking about jackets, skirts, trousers and even shoes) is that they need to be ‘worn in’. Even though this particular skirt is made in a luxurious soft leather I still need to ‘wear it in’ so to speak so that the skirt ‘sits well’. You will notice in the video that the skirt juts out at the back. This is because leather (in particular) has less ‘give’ than other fabrics. Before I will wear this skirt to the wine bar I will have worn it around my home and definitely have sat in it so that the leather takes on the form of my body and softens around my shape to encourage the balanced profile that I expect of a skirt.
